Grant James Fan Club
A group of childhood friends who never found a good reason to stop playing fantasy football together.
A group of friends who found a reason to get together every August in 2010, and have not run out of it since.
18 people have fielded a team over the years and 10 are in it now. Some moved away, some drifted out, a few handed their team to somebody else and never asked for it back. 7 of us have been here for all 17 seasons. The names on the league change; the draft doesn't.
Nobody is playing for money that matters. It is a standing excuse to keep talking to each other — a group chat that happens to keep score, dressed up as football.
The league is named after Grant James, who won the very first championship in 2010 and was gone by 2013. He took the inaugural title with Smokey's Assassins, finished dead last two years later, and was then exiled from the league — a fate no champion since has had to worry about. The name stuck. 14 seasons on we are still the Grant James Fan Club, still named for a man who has not fielded a team since 2012.
Everything on this site is real. The numbers come from the league's own records, and where a number could not be recovered it shows a dash rather than a guess.

Every league needs someone to set the rules, settle the disputes, and explain why the trade deadline was Tuesday. The Grant James Fan Club has Dustin Hood, who has held the office since 2010 and has never once stood for re-election.
In fairness, the record is hard to argue with. Back-to-back championships in 2023 and 2024, 4 scoring titles, and 121–97 across all 17 seasons. Nobody has led the league in points more often.
He has also used 15 different team names in 17 seasons, more than anyone else in league history. In 2020 he called his team “Another year another name,” which we choose to read as a confession.
There is exactly one blemish. In 2013 he named his team “The Commish” — the single season he ran under the authority of his own office — and finished dead last. It remains the only time he has finished as League Bitch. It is raised at every draft.
A brief Taylor Swift era followed: “karma is my tight end” won the 2023 title, “big reputation” went 12–2 and won it again in 2024, and then “The Life of a Champion” finished 2025 at 7–7. The commissioner has since moved on to “Grooms of ’26.”

Things we have learned
mostly about ourselves
- 69 different team names across 172 manager-seasons. Almost nobody keeps the same one twice, which is why the seasons page lets you go back and find them.
- 9 of 18 managers have won it, so 9 people are still waiting. The trophy has been more evenly shared than anyone in the group chat admits.
- Walker Rhodes has 4 championships, more than anyone else. This is brought up frequently and without prompting.
- 230,388 points have been scored since 2010, across 1,103 games — about 104 a week for the average team.
- 7 of us have played every single season, 2010 through 2026. Nobody has ever been talked into leaving voluntarily.
- The league is named after a man who played three seasons. Grant James won the first one and was out by 2013. We kept the name anyway.
